Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Attempting to model a human again.

First off i better say "Sorry Dragonhawk, i forgot." as i opened maya and started this today completely forgeting about the droideka untill i was rendering this. (I'll shove a sticky on my monitor.)

I've had several attempts and modelling a human since i started using maya, each sightly more successful than the last. However they've never been to good so hopefully i can make this the exception.

This looks like a good start. Strange that youve started with the legs though.

What makes you say that? I just thought i'd work from the bottom up only missing the feet as they are going to take me ages.

Well I was taught to always start with the head as it defines the whole proprtion of the character from the start.

Maybe i should try that then as i've always left the head to last.

hmm indeed...I usually start with the head also. Anyway, if you haven't already seen Stahlberg's tutorial on feet at 3dtotal, I suggest you check it out, I have found it very useful

pretty good start

Had a go at modelling some feet but they didn't turn out too well so if i can't fix them i'll use that tutorial you posted Funky Bunnies.
