Hi otaku,

I'm not sure but I think it was in the begining of the 80's, as I recall from the "The History of 3D Graphics Evening" at the 3D Festival... but I'm not sure... I also think they said the first movie which there really was used CG in was TRON... user added image

otaku, another thing you might want to add in the paper is the appearance of the amiga (not sure was that 84 or 85??) - that was not the start of cg, but it started broadcast quality system for relatively little money in consumer market. if you equipped it with a some thousand bucks for equipment it was capaple of studio quality.

but you needed to research on it - i only remember this from an article i read some 10 years ago ...

I believe that the first sort of experiments were being done in the 60's with computer graphics. At my uni there is a guy called John Vince who is one of the founders of this sort of stuff. He was working on extremley basic stuff back in the 60's on some weird contraptions. he also did the original inserts for channel 4 in the UK (people that were around in the 80's know what I'm talking about)
