This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
Im creating a small animation using a King and a Queen chess peice hopping into a pawn shop. It will only be about 10seconds long. Heres what i have so far, im in the process of making small electronic props for the pawnshop. I will also make surrounding stores to go along with the Pawnshop!
Comments and crits are always welcomed! I put a sky in the backround just for the hell of it.
hehe awesome so far Kinddog, only crit is that is the shop in mid air? lol or is it the camera view thats making it look like it is :p you might want to rescale the chess peices smaller as it looks like one of them is the size of the actual door haha ...
I resized the chess pieces and added a couple more stores which are not yet done. And it also is just the lighting and camera view that makes it look like its floating. I dont know why its doing it... :p
Only crit is the sky, looks abit odd as it is going directly 90degree's down in to the ground ... try if you want, just a plane with a imaged attached to it such as a desert, heres a really cool High-resolution desert i found on the net ...
Thanks alot!:attn: :attn:!! Iive finished the stores and am now working on the animation part! That sky isnt going to be the one for the animation, ill probably have a sunrise looking sky for the main animation and dim down the lights. that link isnt working for me...
very well done mate.., I think you should have the 'heads sway back a little just before they jump and again as they land. you know, think about if you are travelling in a car and it stops suddenly.., you are thrown forward and then back a little.., I hope yu know what I mean
Honest to god i did try that at first. I had his head sway forward when he landed and back when he was taking off. But it made him look like rubber as he was constantly jiggling. So i tried to give him more of a Solid landing, he lands on the back edge of his bottom then evens himself out. thats a great suggestion and Should work but didnt with chess peices:p im trying to tweak it a bit but theres only so much you can do with chess peices... thanks for the help, its highly appreciated.
Yay, not a freshman anymore!

I would give them a bit more backward an forward bend, before and after the jump as the main jupm looks great, but it needs more "power" to get them going.
Heres the hop cycle ill be using for the animation! It looks a little odd at some points but only because i made some hops differ in speed (plus youll be seeing it at different angles in the animation.)Updated Hop Cycle
