This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Mirroring

Okay.. I went back about 10 pages looking for answers, and watched one of mkinleys tutorials and didnt help my current situation.

Is there a way/How do i mirror over a line. Usually when you mirror the mirrored object is touching the original. And hard to minipulate to get it unattached even when merge is unselected.

I was wondering for a mecha model i made. i wasnt to mirror the leg so its a distance away from the original over the X axis.. and its always touching...

PS> Also, is there a way to mirror more than one object at once, Select(so the lines turn green if you understand) so you can mirror more at once/save time?

Thanks...

I don't use the Mirror command. As you say, it's hard to mess with. Move the pivot point to the point you want to mirror across and scale in that direction -1.

I DLed a script that does it for me. Select the objects you want to mirror, and you can select insance, or normal, and you also can pick the axis you want it on. Dont remember were I got it tho. lll check later on tonight when I get acccess to my home computer. user added image

mckinley and all.

The problem iu have is all those methods result in connected edges from what ive seen... So it mirrors with it touching the mirrored section which makes it incredibly hard to minipulate then withouth altering the orginal.

I'm not sure why yours results in connected edges every time. See below:

i dont know why mine was having weird results either. But it seemed after restarting my computer and then running maya it worked correctly. So ill asume that was the problem and hope it doesnt return. But thanks for the help everyone.
