Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

heads is great but I'm really not sure about the goggles, they kinder look inside out to me as goggles normally pertrude away from the head as apposed to sinking inward.

I agree. Also, I think the head looks a bit flat uppwards. I dont know if the helmet makes it look like that, or if the head is too flat user added image

yer i also think its too flat, there are problems in the noise area, and she now likes like a boy.

Overall I`m just not liking it.

Going to start again.

Sometimes it better to just start from scratch, then rework a bad model.

The cheek, chin and lip regions look like they could use a bit more definition as well; other than that, I can't pick out anything else that needs adjusting user added image

that's looking really nice - my one crit would be that the distance between the upper and lower eyelid looks a little long - at the moment she's looking a little startled! user added image something else is also bugging me about the eye, but I'm not sure what it is - maybe that the outside edge andd corner needs to come forward a touch.

Looking really good Tweety.

For a pony tail I would use a sphere, with the top of the sphere postitioned where you want the tail to be, then you can extrude that area of the sphere to make the tail, and the top area can be done the same. Should be an easy way round.

nice remodelling of the head tweety, its looking good.
Just looking at the base mesh (pre smoothed) it is often good to try and even out the spacing between edgeloops a bit - to effectively average them out. If you did that then the edgeloops around the eyes etc would probably sit a bit better.
For a ponytail I'd just break it into its basic geometry and then you can add hair and stuff over it at a later date if needed user added image

cheers fellas but what I ment to say was I need a plated pony tail (sort of like Lara croft). Don`t really want to play with hair.

Anyway got the bulk of the hat done....

Just need to add the plated ponytail out the back and add a buckel under the chin on the strap.

Also going to clean up some of those edge loops round the eye.

looks great Tweety it was worth starting over .
For a very low poly ponytail that looks ok, I just used an extruded cube and a shaped duplicated pipe entwined together which got quite effective results I thought.
