This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
marlonjohn: cheers! not sure which bit you mean though - it's based on a corner of my office at work, so I did measure, but I'll check the height.
t1ck135: probably mental ray. yeah - i tend to really like modelling and then lose interest when I get to texturing, so this time i'm going to try to stick with it.
Some Guy: easy. I just drew a curve for the profile. then extruded a circle for one wire. Moved the pivot and duplicated 97 or so more in a circle for the front cage and then duplicated some more for the back. ha ha nice avatar - kind of reminds me of cookie monster at the end.
no update just yet. I started texturing but now my laptop is giving me some problems... of course. :headbang:
hello - bit of an update - I've been working on textures - here's a shot of the fan - just a color map so far. I've added a chrome shader to the wire cage - but i'm a bit unsure of how to add some rust and dirty up - a layered texture perhaps...?
and here's a view of the scene so far. the telephone still needs a lot of work. also I'm having some problems with the shadows which look kind of spotty - i'm using mental ray area lights at the moment...
It looks realy good. I think with the shadows you need to turn The amount of rays up or the scattering down in the shadows options, i dont have Maya Up.
"If Less is more then think how much more more would be..."
I tried turning down the reflectivity and that helped. as you can see in this pic the chrome bits are pretty messed up - i'm a bit unsure of how to approach them.
