Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Robot Scene

I decided to do a simple Robot Scene. This is the first image of the modeling process . It is a view from the back of the Robot.

After around 2 hours modeling I came up with this. After this I made the materials.

I already made the other elements in the Scene, but first i will show another Render, this time without materials, and with the holes for the cameras in the Robot Body

I think it looks pretty good over here. I like the stone wall you got there. As far as the robot goes, im not liking the holes in him. Other than that, I like. user added image

The robot can be controled by a CPU or remote control, so he doesn´t need a head or anything like it, but it need those holes, because there are cameras inside it that are usesd to give visual data to him. ( This is what I imagined when i modeled it, so i don't thing i'm going to give up these holes. Maybe if I make an Head for it, but i didn´t wanted this already-used-to-many-times design, so I tried to make something diferent, but thanks for the comment !

( sorry about my ' Engrish' ) 8 -)

Mecha fan i am... i noticed you dont have a stomach or waist area for it to bend or pivot from. That will be awfully difficult for it to do basic movements.

What texture did you use btw? Ive been looking for some good mecha textures, hard to find them.

IDe say keep the holes, but add like a lens over it or extend them so the camara projects from the hole. Giving the hole more obvious purpose.

its good stuff.. got a good deal of style there.. but the lower legs and feet really don't match the detail the rest of him has..

I know it doesn´t have a pivot point, but it can rotate around it legs , because the legs and the arms can rotate in any degree ( maybe I do an animation with it, so I thinked in this unique way to move, but if it don´t go soo good i can change this later).
I pretend to change it a little today, but i don´t know if I will have the time. Will try to add lens to the cameras.
And about the textures, it is only a layered material that uses a basic color and a Default Sky Texture Map to make those variations with a second color, and also a bump map.
