Smooth Mesh Preview on Maya 2008

Hi,

finally maya can preview Smooth mesh wires on the models, but is there anything we can do to make the smooth mesh preview show in the render without having to convert the mesh and subdivide it more?, Like in XSI, you dont have to subdivide the model to show that in the render

it will be very helpfull if somebody knows a a way

thanks,

You could soften the normals, as theres no option at the moment to render it form the smooth mesh preview
