Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Astaroth...

Well not really Astaroth but it does resemble him. This wasn't intentional and I plan to stray away from the astaroth design from this point on. Im just modeling as I go with no reference. the model is subdiv and Has so much work to be done as you can see... This is day one. later

Will you also do a body to that head?

It would be really cool if u did that, and applied some kind of weapon to him. Or maybe just put him in some kind of nasty environment.

I like the looks of him, will be looking forward to the progress.

If I completely finish the head and am still interested I will definately do a body and may go further. I have a few ideas. Thanks for the feedback. C&C welcome.

Pretty neat. I like the brow region. The eyes seem to have too concentric circlular wrinkles around them. I'd have them blend a little bit more.

For the first pic you can just edit your post, and at the bottom select the box that says remove image or somethign along those lines.

And yes that does look a lot like astiroth from Soul Caliber. MAy i suggest a giant battle axe as a weaponuser added image

I have a question, how did you make the face mask and the eyes.

I think the eyes look excellent by the way.

I think the hair could use some work however.

Yeah, the hair is just something I was playing with to get ideas, definately not anything final. I'm just teaching myself fur for the firet time actually and its really cool. I want him to have a crazy mohawk. Everything exept for the earring is subd. I model faces using Stuart Aitkes method (It is in Dan Ablan's 'Inside Lightwave 7' book, which, by the way, is the most awesome book in the world, light years better than 'Inside Maya 5'). In this method you start by creating a poly for the eye shape and eventually the mouth shape, then you just extrude the edges out and model that way, as you go you shape the eyelids, cheeks/forehead and so on. It works SO good and SO much better than ANY tutorial I've tried. If you want more info I'd be happy to show you. Later...
