This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

wow! thats simply stunning!
how long has it taken you to get to this stage?
and how do you model sumthing like that? do you have about 700 seperate models just put together to make it look like one model?

Thanks. Sorry about the dark images. I am going for a night time lighting so there won't be anything else than moon light and the ship lights.

I'm doing some UV work atm so it's gonna take some time until next updates...

Whee... Got so exited after I completed UV mapping the hull. This is where the fun begins -> painting textures user added image. Big thank you goes to Danny Ngan. His UV Tools scripts made the mapping process whole lotta easier!

Here's some taste of the results I got:

Started messing around with the textures. What do you think? Too rusty? What about the scale of the dents? I know the placement of the dents and dirt isn't realistic but I want to get the overall feel nailed down first...

Undseth took the words right outta my mouth!!!!

KILLER MAN!!! looking GREAT!

The bump depth is perfect for the map you are using, and feel free to actually model some deeper dent's if you want, as I've gotten the chance to see the actual "prop" boat up-close once, and it was dented to helluser added image

PERFECT texturing man!

I think I speak for ALL of us, when I say that it would be a CRIME if you did NOT do a quick OR long tutorial on how you textured this boat sometime in the near future!!! user added image

NICE JOB!!

I see GALLERY written all over the keel of this boat when your final shot is done man!

Wow, awesome job KB.. keep it up user added image. Definately perfect texturing... just one thing. Ever thought of adding a barnicle texture thing to the bottom of the boat? I think it would just add to the effect user added image.. if you animate it in water, it would look weird to me if a boat came off the ground of the wave.. and you could tell the boat was clean on the bottom.. which you just dont see user added image. Awesome though, just wonderful job user added image.

Thanks a bunch. user added image It's this kind of feedback which keeps you going user added image

ragecgi: I'll see what can I do about the tutorial. I'll take some notes what I've done so far and what I will do in the future about the textures.

PureHate: It's basically a file texture which I painted in photoshop using some digital photos I took. I've been playing with maya about 8 months but before that I used 3dsmax for about 6-7 years.

)v(: I'll keep your idea in mind. This is just a quick test I made last night. More details will be in the final texture...
