Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Card Table

Hi I'm new to simplymaya. I haven't been using maya for long and wanted to post the pic I'm working on for some comments and criticism.

What do you think?

Haven't got round to sorting out the glass but here is an update.
Still working on the shaders on the Zippo and pack of cigs.

Each time I see the pic the table keeps sticking out by loking very plastic, uless that is what you were aiming for, you might use a lambert (looks like blin) or somthing to make it look more poris, my opinion user added image

Yeh it's a blinn. I wanted a varnished look but needs work. I might reduce the bump map and add some more interesting finer grain.

Don't know quite what to do for a backround. Anyone got any ideas?

very nice use of caustics.
but the strength of the caustics does not match the strength of the lighting in the scene.
the caustics are way too strong for such a dim light set up

brick background Wall.

Looking good, maybe some light ray streaks going across the scene.

Tried both brighter light and less poweful caustics but the scene looked slightly crap. It started as just a test to see if I could get caustics to work so I'm not too bothered.

I will make a brick wall as a backround and the smoky light streaks sounds good too.
