This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
Well, anyway, since you began this model, this is a great improvement! It looks grat as it is now, espacially I like the tale or whatever it's called....the texturing also looks nice! Maybe you can even improve it....maybe by adding a little specularity....try searching for pictures of crocodiles, delphins and similar creatures, to see how exactly does it look in under the sea/water.
yeah jango gave me some good advice, with the spotlights and fog, the scene has come along nice, and have done a few mods to the "sharkodille", but i am not going to post anymore pics (he says) untill its complete!!!!
The texture was created in a trial version of alias sketchbook, when i got a picture link (see previous messages) from Mike, i "pipetted" (if thats a word) the colours from the tail, and airbrushed a colour at a time untill it kinda ramped,
for the bump map I drew (with a mouse) lots of little scales, mirrored and flipped the image, saved it really low res in "microsoft paint(!)" then re-oppened it - and it has got loads of little "pixel errors" these created "spottyness" and there you have it, horns and teeth were cyl maps with a <blend> of a few colours with a fine line bump.
heres another picture (i am such a liar) a closer, better bump view, (the back horns are going through a transition at the moment) so not quite finished.
