Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I recently purchased Sybex's LEARNING MAYA 6 RENDERING book.
I've only begun to digest it but its helped me a great deal in understanding rendering, materials, and lights.

Do you have any specific questions about its content?

Again, the one I have is for Maya 6 but I'm sure its virtually the same book as the one for version 5.

I've read reviews saying it got nice tutorials but they don't actually explain what they're doing, is this correct?

And how deep do they get into Mental ray?

About 60 pages dedicated to MR, going from caustics to GI and FG, then it focuses on MR shaders

I'm convinced that this book is well designed.
There are 2 DVDs included in : One with the data necessary for the exercises, the other contains videos of the lessons

I am quite happy with the book. It actually covered more than I anticipated. The included DVD is definately a plus. I say go for it.
