Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Testing textures while uv unwrapping

when people unwrap uvs, people use those.. numbered grids. I was wondering how people were doing that, but i never asked because i didn't want to look like a tard.

but now i definately need it coz im stuck on something.

could anyone tell me how people do it? is it a feature in uv texture editor? or are they using a picture file to actually put in shader?

im talking about those... colored, tiled, numbered texture. Thx. Now i look like a tard, but dang.. it sucks w/o them to unwrap uv's and b&w checkers make my eyes hurt.

It's simply a texture map. In fact, I read in the mole man that you used Mike's book... there is a grid file on the accompanying CD.
