Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

I thought the same way about using ZBrush, in that it doesn't matter much to me, becuase as long as you know how to model (no matter what program you use) you can create great things. It drives the competition.

I did new sketchs of Michelle, and have made some changes. The most important is the manga look I gave, to make her more expressive. The first one was "normal" too much. I think a stylized look could be easier to model too. So let's see if it works. I'll problably start modeling again, because I think the old model could drive for the same mistakes I made before.

Nice sketch. It looks like it will be a lot of polys with all those feathers, I can't wait to see it.

Very cool sketch!

One idea might be some sort of sheath-like armor that slides over where the wings and body connect to protect them during flight? Just a thought.

Looking forward to it!

I like how you're redesigning and not rushing the process through.

Thanks for coments, buddies. As a novice in 3D, I'd be a fool if I just go ahead with a lousy model. My idea is to be a good professional, and so I go will go back and make things many times as necessary to let them looking great.
joed8349: In fact, I'm not sure how I can make those wings. A friend have said to me: "Ah, make them with a metal look, and avoid this feathers". But I replied: "If I avoid it, it won't be a challenge!". But if you or anyone here have suggestion in how to make them, please let me know.
Mike: Thanks for suggestion. I haven't made a sketch of her back yet, but be sure I liked your idea very much.
Swankymonkey: easy, man! I don't have your ability in modeling. I'm just learning. I spent most part of my life drawing, and sculpture is not so natural to me yet. So, you ought to wait a little longer.:p
t1ck135: yes, this is the idea, not to hurry! We have two months, and I'll try to do my best in this time.
Time is little now, but soon I'll post new shots. Bye

For a low poly model I'd say use a single poly block for each row of feathers, then you can easily texture them on. Or even just a simplistic wing shape with a few polys, a bit like the wings on badtertles model.
If you're after a detailed high res effect then google images with the search of 'bird wing' gives some good images showing the (advanced) structure of how the feathers attach.

Good luck user added image

It can be done in low poly if he is going to use transparency mapping. He can paint the feathers insted of modeling.

Those look good ideas. Problably I'll try more than one approach to see what they like and to learn a little bit more. Thanks for advices.
Today I start working in my model again. I followed in general lines the famous and spectacular Joan of Arc's tutorial by Michel Roger (https://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials...c/joanmenu.asp). I think my model is getting better now, she's more what I had in mind. Let's see if she will look a woman this time user added image
