polyUnite -n NOT working

why is the flag (-n) not working with polyUnite? [neither is (-ch) nor (-o)]

command ref says:

-name (-n)
Flag can appear in Create mode of command

why is this not working?

polyUnite tmpSide1 tmpSide2 -n tmpUnite;
// Error: Invalid object flag: -n //
