you turn on mayamr in your plugin manager (windows plugin i think) and make sure its checked as loaded and auto load.

final gather is an option in the render globals

chrome

how did you assign the chrome shader to your brake disk? Looks awsome.
Also how did you cut out the undividual circles in the disk, and get them going around the disk so symmetrically?

Sweet. Alright, for the chrome, if you read all of page two, concorddawned told me how to do it. You assign a Dgs_Material which is a mental ray meterial. once assigned, you turn the glossyness and diffuse all the way off, and turn the spec very high and then your ready to render in mental ray

Well for the holes, I created the rotor first then. I used a cylinder about 100 sides, and turned it into the final high poly. Then, I made 3 smaller cylinders and used polygon, combine so it can be one. Once I did that, I hit insert so I can get the pivit point and I placed the piviot in the center. I then went into the duplicate menu and for instance, I want 20 sets of 3 for holes so I made 19 copies and i rotated it 18 since (18*20 =360). So in your options make sure your rotation times the number of copies that are going to be on the state =360 and thats how I got them to go around the rotor. Once arround, I did another poly combine. The reason I made sure I was done wit the rotor 1st is because I used a boolean. If you use a boolean and try 2 do things like smooth, your mesh will be all screwed up so once I was done with the rotor, I did a boolean with the cylinders and thats what made the hold. I hope i help enough
