Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Just as good as Religion

Hi Guys.

The subject i wrote, is very similar to, what this thread is going to be about.

Its NOT just another Maya vs max, But i what your opinions on why/ why not use max/Maya.

My impression is that they are equally good. That's what i can read that is. Because i only own Maya which is very good
But what do you think ?

it all just depends on what you like better, i prefer maya because it is easyier on the eyes.

Do what you like, like what you do.

I prefer the Maya GUI. Maxs GUI is not user freindly IMHO. I have used both and Maya is just easier to use. Plus Maya has the best inbuild dynamics of any 3D app.

Personally, I've barely touched Max...I can do stuff in Maya, like splitting and extruding because I know those tools and what they do...but...I can't figure out how the heck to work Max...><

Given my case, it also depends on what you know/don't know what to do ^_^

I like Maya for many reasons. One of them is that Maya was made by people who actually cared about what they were doing. Maya is a program made for artists by artists (I remeber that one of Alias's dynamics programmers worked on One Perfect Storm). Max on the other hand I feel is just another program that does 3D - wow, another one out of the infinite pile.

Max is for games and Maya is for movies? I have never heard anyone say that before, I know that Max is used in a lot of game studios but then, a lot of game studios cant afford Maya. Is there a technical thing that prevents Maya from making models for games? I don't think so but I'm willing to hear from people.

I'm lighting on a Disney film called "Underdog" we are scheduled to wrap end of January 2007 and it'll be out in summer I think.

After that it's possibly Narnia 2... but I can't say much about that user added image
