thanks alot, there actually meant to be DVDs but i think making some books might look better, so cheers!! user added image

going to start some renders now. get the basic global illumination and final gather down defore i start adding textures.

what kind of renders are those? I like the way they look a lot.

they are just amibient occlusion renders, and then i used the vector render to render out the wire frames, then put the two together in photoshop.. you know how to do them or do you want me to explain??

yup I know how to do both, but combining them in photoshop is something I haven't learned yet, it's probably pretty easy though huh?

yeah it is easy, just gotta open them and then drag the wire over the top of the render then fiddle with the blending modes to make it look good, and that about it...

anyway, started a little bit of texturing and basic renders

hi .. first of all you have done a really nice work secondly i want to ask you a question ... how could i render a scene mental ray with it's wire frame as you done in the latest pictures

you have to render using the maya vector render.. what you have to do is.....
make sure that the maya vector render pluging is loaded.
then either creat a camera or use one of the defaults and go to its attribute editor. scroll down to the enviroment tab and change the background colour to white.
open up the render globals and uncheck the fill objects box and check the include edges box.. and away you go!! change the colour and line thinkness as you want!

i havent been able to do much on this for a while due to the christmas and all that... made a small bit of progress, alot of tweaking to the GI and. not to much else to be honest.

Aint been able to do much for a while. but started getting back into it now.. i was getting bored of looking at the same thing over and over so i started on the other side...

the brown on the sides of the cabinet are just temp.. let me know what you think and what i can do to make it better!

Cant wait to see the final result.

I am trying to get natural looking lighting in maya mentalray and its taking some time.
You seem to have acheived that long ago.
What is the config of your PC?

if you want to start learning it i used to the digital tutors interior rendering tut to get me going. workl really well at giving me the basic knowledge, and freom then on you jut gotta try stuff out!

my PC is AMD 5000+ 2.8 dual core
2 gig ram at the moment
2 nVidia 7600 in SLI
