...i want the trunk to swing and sway realisticly when running, IE so itss not stiff

what kind of deformer do i need

I'm not great with the rigging/animation stuff but from what I understand if you can't code it to react on its on you want to animate it as secondary motion with the character. I hope you rigged it up with the body!

You can get the trunk to react dynamically to the movement by using dynamics with the joints of the trunk, or easier is just keying the opposing trunk movements for the walk cycle(s).
