Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Challenge

Hey guys

Anyone fancy a challenge? Thinking of creating a character, something like a horror style. New and or existing from movies, games or your mind.

What do you guys think?

If theses enough people that fancy it I'll set it up

Not too sure Dave, two months, no software restrictions? Can be a bust or whole character?

I might give it a go... seeing as my last comp fell through before we finished. But I don't have a reason not to finish a new project. Plus it'll probably get me back on the boards.

I have a few ideas for a Silent Hill style character.

If people don't feel too confident about entering to create a full character, then a bust would suffice. Or maybe if a base mesh was provided for those who would like that aid. Then they could just sculpt something up.

Challenges are fun. Me and TwistedDraggon33 (I think thats his name on here) are doing a challenge....should probably post it up in the challenge forum. If anyone still goes in there....

how about a lighting and rendering challenge? it could be a lot easier for people to participate in if they have other commitments.

we could use a model from turbosquid.

Yes, a challenge would be very cool. I just might join in...
However, I do feel that the majority of competitions in the past year or so have been character modelling, which is fine, but like hammer, I think a different topic would be fun as well. My 2c.

How's about a character challenge this time (for old times sake!) then a texturing, lighting and rendering challenge after that?

I'll dig out my 3D world CD's and put a scene together with the free models for the next one.

OR

If people are more into the rendering give me a couple of weeks to get a scene together.

The main thing is we need people to actually enter the challenge.

I would love to gster BUT

1: I cant model very well at all
2: I certainly cant model organics
3: I dont have the time ATM mate....I havent touched Maya in nearly 2 weeks. The model I am doing for the inner city estate (I posted in here somewhere, Real World Modelling) is taking its toll.

I have still a way to go on that one....I did get the head tutorial so WHEN I get time I can get used to trying it.

I really would like to but Im so tired ATM with this current project...and I mean tired.

Go on, Go on, Go on, Go on, (father Ted).Bullet you would learn alot more by doing one of these because you have to learn new things but you actually learn them insted of following a tutorial..........hope you join in dave

Edit:Im talking if the time limit is two months, I do understand that time is limited but the leap in modelling you would gain and understanding

Yeah, I can't model organics at all either (well, haven't really tried much at least) but if you're super tired and tied up with other projects, well, that's understandable.
