Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

maya 2012

Got maya 2012 for a couple of months and when I render a scene it sometimes uses all my 12 threads or just one but when i render the same scene in 2008 it utilises all my threads, does anyone have the same issues

Hmm?? It uses all of your 12 threads, but sometimes doesn't?

The only reason why it would drop to 1 thread, would be because the current rendering stage wasn't (or can't) be run in parallel. This should only happen for a short bit of rendering time, not the whole thing.

Are you running an i7? I've heard that they can drop to one core for no reason.

I have an I7 990 , The same scene utilizes all my threads in maya 2008 ,
I spent the whole evening re saving my files as ascii files . Whats also weird is that when 2012 does render the my project on all threads it takes allmost double the time it would in 2008 .....
I have tested this on four projects and it seems 2012 is abit slower on my pc
