IK/FK problem

Hi,

it's been a while since i've had to ask for help, but here goes, i've created an ik/fk switch for the legs of a character i'm working on, but for some reason when i'm in ik mode, the ik handle pops causing the joint to pop resulting in an ugly deformation, I know it has something to do with the orient constraint I used to constrain the control curve to the joint, however the other leg works fine, if I remove the orient contraint then everything goes back to normal, i have know idea why this is happening, please help meuser added image
