Curve a polygon?

Hello community!user added image Im learning mostly from video tutorials and I cant find anything on this. Im trying to build a model of my bicycle for practice, and the front forks are curved cylinders... and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do bend a cylinder in Maya 2014! Any help is so appreciated, Think of the curve Im trying to make as a lower case j. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Animation deformers -> bend deformer
