Wacom 27QHD - should i or shouldn't I

Hi All,

I have been working with Maya as a hobbiest for over 10 years now, on and off. I have been toying with getting a Wacom 24HD for a while, but with the advent of the 27QHD, i am very tempted. I work in IT so my fulltime job has nothing to do with graphics, unfortunatly, my hobby work is modelling, texturing, animation in my spare time, so i have not been able to justify the money verus the benefit for just a hobby.

I was wondering does anyone have the 27QHD that i could have a go on, I own a Intuos 3 A4 tablet but dont really like the disjoint that there is between the hand and the eye so wanted to try one with a screen.

I live in Fleet Hampshire in the UK. I havent seen anywhere that does the tablets for me to have a go on.

I am also really not sure if spending £1799 is worth it for what i would use it for. I am sure if its amazing then I would probably spend a lot more time doing the things I like user added image

Thanks In advance

Mithandra

I've got the Cintiq 13HD and i'd say it was worth the money. Personally I would not shell out the extra $1800 for the 27QHD. The extra large screen would be more of a PITA for me than a benefit. If you're used to painting on large canvases then you may like a 27" screen. If you're more like me and using to working on an a4 drawing pad well...

The big buggers are better as well if you have a lot of space whereas the small one sits quite nicely on the desk in front of me. It's just more convenient to use.

You're welcome to come give my 13Hd a try, only problem is I moved to Prague about 10 years ago but if you are ever in the neighbourhood...

All the best
David

Went with the Cintiq 24HD. The 27inch was a colossal beast and there was no way there would be space for it and the other monitors. Have to say, it's pretty nice though :3
