Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Nice! Only minor things for me would be the hands look a little flat and the arms might need a little something extra where they pop in their sockets as they look a bit welded

Great start though, look forward to more!

With image planes I normally make it a layer and delete or hide it when I am done (either through layers or in the outliner)

cool :O
i like the hard edges.. seems likely that he would have some kind of thick hyde on him user added image

the image plane thing.. you can find them in the hypeshade under 'cameras' (or was it textures?O_o) there you can select and delete or edit em as you want..

you can find them in the outliner and hypergraph too if you uncheck 'show dag objects only' in the outliner or select 'display > display shape nodes' (i think) in the hypergraph

What about making the legs a bit bigger?

I think its perfect... now just spend as much time to detail as possible... can't wait to see him textured. I would like to see a nice incandescent green... almost neonish.

Thanks for taking the time mate.

<--saves image.

As per the toad, you got it spot on! Just like the concept!, Is the lowpoly mesh the exact sub-d one? Or is it an earlier stage screenshot?

I wish my workspace and modelling were both that impressive.

its the same one. I worked in subd and converted back to polys at the 0 level. ( I learned that from kurt's post user added image)

should i post an earlier version too?

Thanks for the info on the image plane deletion problem i had user added image

and thanks for the input... I will tackle that later this evening!

Eagle suggested to make the legs larger- I was going for a real cartoony look, like the bulldog from the Looney Toons. do you guys think they look too silly that small, I could easily make them a bit larger user added image

If I were to be asked I would leave them be, just like they are now.
It adds to the cartoony quality of the model itself.

Yep, legs are wonderful! It is exactly like your drawing.. and also, if you look at it from the front its perfect.. just im not so sure about his sides.. still look kinda flat to me. Just trying to knock off the very littlest of things though, as theres really no errors in this model. Very nice!

Great job, Howard, as always!

Biggest thing that maybe jumps at me is the corners of the mouth. Seem a little off, y'know? Great job!
