Very nice motion...

Yes, I bet the head will be hard to sync in with the kicks?

But really I just watching and trying to learn... ...

I love it Kurt! Only small little opinion is that the head seems to wobble a bit much. It should rotate side to side with the punches but not so much as wobbling from shoulder to shoulder. I hope it makes sense. It seems like he's nodding happly with the rythm of some background music, if you know what I mean.

For the kicks, just keep in mind that the kick originates always from the hip, and that it's composed of 4 parts:
1) Shift the weight on the supporting leg
2) Chamber the kick in, by flexing the knee
3) The leg extends, in a push motion for a front or side kick, in a sweeping motion for a round kick. The supporting foot twists to add momentum to the kick.
4) After making contact, the leg goes back to flexed knee

I don't know much of 3D animation, but I have been kickboxing for 5 years now... user added image

Fixed up the head a bit more and added the first front kick.... Still have to add a lot more rotations to loosen him up even more...

Oh that is really good Kurt!!!! I love it! I like the way the head moves now. And I think you did a great job with the kick. How did you get the bag to move like that?

Brian im still a little bit away from my demo, I keep changing things and adding stuff.... I really should just buckel down and use what i have... Every new project seems really good to use for it.

Also have a new website being built so i can actully upload all my animation.

I'd say the bag doesnt look right on the last kick. And between the first and second kicks he seems almost too rigid, he seems to fling his leg into the second kick without needing the time to balance or anything like that. Of course that could be how its done, Im no kick boxer. user added image

Thanks bud... i'll see if i can work on the bag...... might try to make it a active rigid body tomorrow. As far as the fling on th kick thats how i used to kick the foot really didn't hit the ground before we had to kick again.

Hey Kurt - after you posted on my knight I realized I'd checked out your thread and never posted. Guess I can't compain too much when I don't get as much feedback as I want...

Great sequence - there's a really good feeling of weight and impact. As for the spinning back kick it's not that the foot doesn't touch down... it's something with the timing/balance - maybe if there was a bit more gather and release...

The other thing that I thought is it seems that after completing the kick and before bowing he should have his guard up. It seems a little too noncholant to just bow without guarding after this aggressive flurry of kicks.

know I'm a bit late on this one - are you still working on it?

I'm a martial arts practicioner (kenpo karate) and fan - I hope to see more of this animation.

Check out the subsurfacescattering on my tongue...
