Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Thanks Witchy!
They do look very dry, the specularity is just not right.
I may persevere with the shader a little before painting them instead.

Chris, try a layered shader for the eyes... 2 phongs. 1 for the color and the other transparent with a ramp for the specular. Crank up the specular.

Thanks Ice Queen user added image

I'm using a layered shader and transparency for controls, but you are right about the specularity. I have it up quite high but they just need light linking separately from the body, those lights are providing loads of diffuse and little specularity. This is all down to trying to recreate the subsurface scattering look that I'm trying to achieve on the skin.

Thanks, I'm going to have another go at this and post an update soon.

Ooh, subsurface scattering, don't you just love that oneuser added image I had the same and just linked a point to my eyes and unlinked the rest, it usually works. The body is looking really great, love the detail user added image

Spent maybe too much time looking into sss, it's a tough one and no mistake!
Glad you like the body, way too bronzed and tanned in that last shot of the front (constantly experimenting with the shader). Working on the feet at the moment, my least favourite things to model.

Looking good, but your wrinkles are still to defined above the eyes and on his cheeks.

Thanks everyone!

Dave, Ive not gone back to tweaking the face yet as I've been working on the rest of the body. You are right of course and I'll correct them when I start on the mouth tonight, cheers user added image

This is probably intended on your part, and if it is, I just don't like it user added image

But, the eyes, they are too red where they should be more white/yellowwhite with little red. And the iris area is too big, and I don't like the black ring around the iris.

Just my 2 cents user added image

The eyes do look better !! Looking good. befor I woryed about the wrinkels to much I would put a split on the lips so they look more normal. I think that is what is holding back more sence of realisom now. But its comeing along great !! Think your doing a great job.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

GreyFox, you have a good point about the eyes, have changed them a little, will post an update later.

Pony, cheers!
The wrinkles only take a few ticks to sort out and have done them now. I allways intended to model the inside of the mouth, tis now split and he's growing rotten teeth as I speak user added image
Thanks again.
