Can't get the render smooth

I'll say right now, this is the second day i use maya, i tried to get a smooth render, but just can't get it
EDIT: I use visual ray for the render but just can't get it right

For display purposes your image is being shrunken to fit inside the render view window and that does create the appearance of jagged edges even where there might be none. If you show the actual size of the image(by hitting the "1:1" icon on the top left of the render view) and you're still seeing jagged edges then its time to check the Mental Ray settings.
