Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

How do i Import material and shades?

I tried Imort but i cant find the Material\shade i Imorted. I am using Maya 5.0.
Sorry for asking so much but I just started with this and dreamnig about working with this. I am totalty Exited.
