Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

My Dream Office Challenge - MrTerminator

Hi everyone user added image
Guess it's never too late to jump in.
After reading the challenge title lots of ideas immediately came into my mind. The one i was most excited about is an "office" in the jungle, hanging in the trees. The scene will take place somewhere in the middle of the 19th century and will be the office of a british adventurer searching new species of animals in the jungle.
So here is some basic modeling i've done today.

Yes, it's indeed tiny user added image Just enough space for a table, chair and some equipment. Perspective is not final. I'll choose one when everything is finished.

Here's the first furniture:
a bamboo/wood/jungle-stuff chair and a rattan-like table
Oh, and a carpet made of banana leafs

Coming along well. Imagine a really high end PC sitting on that table, that would be sweet! I dunno I kinda like stuff like that user added image.

Got all the room you need, desk chair and enough room for some beer storage. What more do you need user added image

Hehe, thanks for the comments user added image
Genny, i might think about that, if you put the cupcakes in your scene.

@Dave: I think some bottles of rum and wine would be more likely user added image

Anyway, here's the last update for today.

Update for today:
-extended the floor to the back to place a hammock over it
-added a second tree and applied some ropes to it
-made two barrels

Nothing is placed perfectly right now. Everything will be fine tuned later. I'm just continiously putting everything roughly together in my scene.

Thanks guys.
Not the time for lightning yet, The main contruction is as good as finished now. My next step will be filling the desk and the rest of the "office". Can't decide yet whether i should start texturing after that or first create an environment. But I'll probably go for the texturing.
So here's the almost finished construction: (renders and screenshots were not made at the same time user added image )

edit: And during the texturing process I'll also take the trees through zbrush...
