Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Rendering Lithophane Model

Hello,

I have multiple lithophane models that I want to render as a realistic looking image; I am having trouble figuring out how to do this. Lithophanes have two sides: one side has an engraved image while the other side is very thin allowing for a realistic image to be seen when light is shined from the other side. So, I've been playing around with the transparency and translucency of the lithophane model while putting a light on the opposite side, yet I still haven't found the result that I want. This may be similar to how stain glass works (light from one side illuminates the other side), but I'm not sure. If anyone could assist me in rendering a realistic image of a lithophane, I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks
