uv snapshot

hello people,

hope someone out there might be good enough to help. I'm trying to get my head around making a texture in Photoshop using a uv map. Whenever I take the uv snapshot, save it as a targa file and open it in Photoshop the background is always clear. In Maya help it states that the background is always black (i've noticed this on all tutorials i've looked at too). The Questions I have are...

Does it make any difference what colour the background is?(apart from making viewing easier).

and

How can I make the background black?

Thanks for your help,
Mat.

I'm not sure why your BG isn't black. Mine always is, and I can't figure out a way to make it any other color. However, the color is only for legibility. A work around for you might be to just use the alpha channel is gives you. It's basically just a grayscale image of the exact same information as what should be in your RBG channels.

Cheers for the tip Dann, I'll give it a shot.
