Strange - persp in not using all space available

When I use the persp view, maya only uses about 1/3 of the space available. I cant explain it. Are there some settings where i can change this?

Ive made a screenshot of the problem. The red line shows until where the area which i can use goes.

I would be pleased if anyone could help me

i don't know - at a guess i'd say maybe it was your camera's clipping planes (select your camera and look at the attribute editor), but I really doubt it.
