Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

They are round of course, but as you say it may be hard to see in the above images.

I decided to finish this model to have a pic to send as a x-mas greeting card. So here it is.

I'm quite satisfied with it, except the hat, it doesn't look like cloth. Can anyone give any hints what values for diffuse, tranlucense etc. are good for clothing? Right now It's a lambert with a texturemap of a rug, and the same map as a slight bump.

Diffuse: 0.8
Translucence 0.24
everything else default

I'm using the software render with 6-7 spotlights.

to be honest with you i liked it better without hte snowy hills. the hills look sort of barren and dark and depressing to me. maybe model an xmas tree in there with him? (although i know thats another kinda big project)

Hehe, yeah it may not be the happiest looking xmas picture. But it's supposed to be at night... but I'll add some stars to the sky in photoshop later, maybe it'll make it look a little better. So, anyone has any tips for a good clothing material? Otherwise I'm done with this, gotta send it soon.

I Think the hat (if that's what you need cloth material for) looks just fine... Nice model btw, Futurama rocks! user added image

Wow, that's awesome, great job! You should plave him in a frame from futurama in the exact same position and place on screen, make it sort of like that 3d simpsons episode, except backwards!

"We don't actually need to know that the main character has a past. All we need to know is that he has an objective and a lot of people are going to die and a lot of innocent inanimate objects are going to be destroyed and blown up before he can complete that objective."
