Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

If I can use an old Maya book for free, would you advise it?

If I can use a Maya 1.0 book for free, would you advise it? I'm buying several books soon, but my bank card is in the mail so I can't order them yet.

Is it OK, or too far of a "gap" (using Maya 6)

if you want some help about maya 6.0 you can go to help in the top of your screen when maya is open the click on tutorial (stg like that)and you will have a lot of tutorial (the basic).

i hope that was what you wanted(a tutorial that show the basics of maya)
