LOw Poly Female Game Character

This one is for Mike, I'm a little low on cash at the moment, so can't buy the DVD myself, but I was wondering.. is this done in NURBS as well as Kurt's tutorials, or do you start with a polygon box or cylinder? Mostly curious for the head.

I tend to start with polygonal primitives, usually cylinders.
