This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
The biggest things that need improvement to me are the overall shape of the head and the ears.
The head is a little too boxy and the back and top of the head could be fleshed out a bit more. Also, the ears are too flat and maybe too big. Take a close look at pictures of babies' ears. Notice that they almost never sit flat against the head. There's almost always an irregular curve to them and they're usually more 'inflated'.
The rest is looking quite nice. What's the idea with this project?
i have an idea for a character that i might make - if i can decide whether i like it or not. i figured i would try to model and texture the baby's head first.
cheers for the pointers funky - i'll take another look at my refs and see if i can find some baby's ears to look at.
