Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

thanks alot user added image

alright... i am more or less finnished with the sword now! it needs a little tweeking + a clean up in the wireframe, and i was thinking that you could maybe recommend some tutorials, or give me a few tips on shading/texturing while i do that?

heres the result so far:
user added imageuser added image

if it makes any different i was thinking of a shiny steel material with some kinda blueish shine, for the blade.
for the next part (the one between the blade, and the shaft) i was thinking of some "not so shiny, but still quite shiny" gold colour, and for the shaft, i was thinking of some kinda Dark wood... maybe like this one: https://www.debreuil.com/sky2005/Down...s/darkWood.jpg

hope you can help me out!
thanks user added image

You should try some UV mapping and texturing tutorials. You could use the wood texture you found and edit it a bit in photoshop (if you have ps.)
I'm not too good with shaders so you might want to ask some other members about that. user added image

The sword reminds me a bit of the Sword of the Hungering Cold in Warcraft:

Good luck!

MS Paint = good lightweight tool for pasting screen shots when you can't be bothered openining up a larger painting tool when all you want to do is save a screen shot :p

i have been watching some tutorials on texturing, and i was actually amazed how easy UV mapping is in maya (compared to other software i have worked with)!

anyway, i have had a hard time finding any tutorials on shading, and lighting...
could you suggest me something?

in advance: Thanks user added image

Yeah Florian(FLoze) makes some good tutorials though I think those are a bit advanced for craksy at the moment. Soak in the basics first.

i just need some basic, that lets me know which tools/shaders? i should use for different stuff!

have tried to just play around with it, but i think its a little bit more advanced that i thaught!

fx. the mia material just makes my model black :S
and there alot of different stuff i dont really know how to use!
i would really apreciate a verry basic tutorial!

Hi,

I made this video a long time ago for another member on this site......

Three Point Lighting Tutorial

There may be something in it which you find useful.
