Animating an Escalator

Hiya, I have a subway scene where I intend to use an escalator, now I can't recall if there was already a thread on this, but if not.. can someone tell me the easiest way to animate an escalator?

set driven key user added image
not sure how to do it yet, but you want the steps to go up and down automatically
