Mental Ray - I love it

Hi everybody!

I just needed to say: Mental Ray is really gooood!

With my PLE i was used to the Maya Software Renderer, but i didn´t like it very much ... it was (in my eyes) worse than the free BMRT - Renderer (BlueMoonRenderTools).
But last week i bought Maya 5.0 and the Global Illumination and Caustics are just great user added image

now í´m only making disco-balls and whatever ... user added image

hope i don´t anoy you user added image

i dont want to spoil you experience with mr, but you are a bit unfair to the maya renderer. yes, it has limitations, yes it could be better. but still, there is a lot you can do with the maya renderer - you just need to master its settings. and my opinion is, if you have to rely on mr to make your pictures any good, then aehm, you should go back to learning how to make the scene in a way that it does look great with maya renderer. if it then would look better in mr, good for you. but mr cannot compensate a poor scene user added image

no no, my scences were nice in maya - Renderer as well, but sometimes I just wanted the stuff i had in Rhino3D + BMRT ... and then you had to place 20 lights to get the same effect ...

you will see in this month tournament what my scenes look like user added image (now pray for me it will look good user added image )
