This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Maya crash

I have the following problem.

Maya loads okay. I create an object say a poly cube.

I try to Assign new material.

Maya crashes and exits. There's nothing written in the log file.

The problem occured when I had a low CMOS battery, but surely that wouldn't cause the problem would it?

I'm using Maya 5.0 under XP. The problem also occurs in 4.5 so I assume it's not a software problem.

Sorry I can't give more info, but that's all I have.

Kinda solved

Ok, I've kinda solved the problem.

I figured out that it's a mental ray problem.

I get the message: >> MSG 0.0 fatal 011500: interrupted by exception code 0xc0000005.

This is a Mayatomr.mll problem apparently.

I unloaded the plugin, but now maya just crashes out when I try to apply a material.

Any further suggestions?

Thanx,

Forlax.
