Freeze particle Emition??????

Hi there,

Is there a way to freeze particle emition?? - in Maya 6

I've got a scene that is proving to be too render intensive and there isn't time to figure out how to get what I need in post,

so what I'm hoping I can do is simply freeze the particle emition at a point I like

and then just render out the scene with the camera moving through the frozen particle emition.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.
