One quick question about joint orientation

Okay, I have been studying how to do joint orientation. One quick question.

Is there a different between these two picture? I mean as a joint local rotation axes, one is pointing toward its child joint and another is not.

you can click on the pic to change between the 2 pic.

If the joint rotation axis does not pointing toward its child joint will it have any problem? Thank you.
