Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Gone wrong?

What are these lines going straight down ( and how do I get rid of them)?

What do you mean? If you want to get rid of the grid go show>grid

What do I mean. Well, see that curious straight thing that's going vertically? That's called a line ( the things on the head are called polygon faces).

Seem to be getting a lot of them when I combine. Is it my graphics card (can't see how. It is a Geforce 5)?

I always turn off my grid unless I really need it.

Your image isn't showing up. It's showing a logo from the webhost, I believe.

Hmm... can't say I've seen that before.

I would guess that it'd be hanging vertices or something.

Mmmm. Could be. But I don't seem to be able to select any of the lines, and when I rotate the figure the lines will disappear and reappear. Very annoying.

Got it sorted. Seems I had a few vertices not merged in the nostril. Thanks for the help Mike.
