This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
Very new here and to Maya in general. I'm trying to improve on my skills and recreate the funnel transition effect they used in Aaron Sims' Archetype at 3:25.
It was probably done during compositing, but you could do something like it in 3d as well.
You could achive something similar by displacing a matrix of cubes with an image; however that's pretty advanced for someone new. If you're still interested take a look here: https://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=840961
Thanks for the prompt reply!
I watched the gnomon tutorial on it and while he discusses the grading of the shot, he mentions another artist did it through Maya and will be speaking on it (but noone does! lol)
I checked out the link you posted aabout particles Displaced by Image Luminance and yeah - its sounds complicated but I don't mind looking in to it - particle systems that is. Otherwise, I can't think of any other way to approach this effect!
You know - I think I've got it-looks like a combination of space warps. More complicated then that of course but the space warps were the key I believe Thanks all!
