X-Wing

With the star wars trilogy DVD release posters i'm seeing every where i needed to model something to celebrate it. So here's the start of my x-wing.

Got another update and yes i am going to texture it. I'll probably get the modelling done in the morning and start texturing in the evening.

cool could u probably post a wireframe picture??

and: will you create textures in photoshop or so? or just shaders created within maya???

Yes i can post a wire but it'll have to wait untill the morning as the model is on the computer up in my room.

As for the texures, yes they will be done in photoshop.

yes and no. I started using blueprints to layout the main shape of the body and wings, but they were so far from the x-wings in the films i just gave up on them and modelled alot without them.

I think i may have to model a tie fighter and death star once i've finished with this.

He'll be there but i didn't want to model him as part of the ship. He'll be complete and able to get in and out. user added image

Ahh ... this model is giving me Star Wars Action Figure flashbacks!

I miss my old X-Wing and my little Luke lookin' like George Bush Junior in his little flightsuit ... I miss my little orange suited Lukeuser added image

Can't wait to see R2! ... how I miss him ...

Nice start. Use lots of references. This site has some really good photos of the XWing in the Smithsonian exhibition. Scroll down a little until you see the REBEL XWING FIGHTER.
