Default Scale Tool

How can I fix this scale tool?? To make it straight? I tried to modify the center point but it didnt work.. Also the scale tool does not have options so, i cant set them : (

Hmm...I have another question about the scale tool: Is there any way to control how big scale effect it produces? I mean sometimes it is very difficult make very subtle changes with it. Some sort if finetune mode would be nice...

A finer scale can be accomplished by selecting the object and pressing f. This focuses your view on the object, which makes it easier to scale. You can also type in small changes in the scale boxes in the channel thing to the right of the screen. Other than that, I don't know.
