There's nothing normal about normals. In FACT i think the are abnormal.

Well ive ordered Organic modelling 2 DVD so hopefully that will help me finish this guy off.

One thing you really need to do, is when you create the mesh, try to aviod all tri's and 5 sided polys. I can see a heap of tris on the top of the head, and 5 sided polys near the nose.
Otherwise your going to get a hell of a mess in those areas when you do a poly smooth

Right going to start on a new model this one has been a great sucess although i havnt finished it and ive made some errors i think ive come along way from the first images i posted. Going to try and patch model? a normal human head following the joan tutorial as you recommended. I'll post some images or might not depends how it goes. user added image

hey this thread brings back memories - my first head was this tutorial too user added image

as already mentioned try the joan of arc tutorial (the tutorial I did after the head one) as it'll help get some skills in blocking out a basic body form. The head also gives you some good results.

I'm having reall problems modelling the tops of the head tryin to get rid of Tri's i will edit a scrnsht into this post asap.
