Weird effect on closing polygon

Hi all, first I'd like to say this is my first post and I just started learning maya.

I'm trying to create a guitar similar to one I saw in an earlier post. I created a curve with the CV curve tool to create the shape for one of the holes. After I Open/Close the curve and Extrude it, I use the Fill Hole tool but I don't get quite the result I'd like. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

thanks !

Never mind, it seems I didn't close the curve properly. I worked it out by using snap to vertices. Problem solved!
